Sleepless.
This review is
Me and my boyfriend watched this and Ang Kwento Nating Dalawa (to be reviewed in a separate blog post, wait for it!) at Cinema 67 last June 5.
The story revolves around Gem (Glaiza De Castro), a call-center agent who finds it hard to sleep whenever she needs to. She seems to suffer from insomnia probably because of her job. Then comes a new colleague, Barry (Dominic Roco) who happens to live on the same building she's in and is also sleepless. As the movie progress, we see how they get to know more about each other as they spend nights trying to kill the time.
I applaud both of them for acting so naturally in this movie, it made me feel like they were just two ordinary people enjoying the company of each other. Parang mapapatanong ka "close ba talaga sila in real life?" haha I love how the movie paced, it wasn't too long or dragging nor was it cut bluntly at the end.
The movie had a simple story but it was told in a good way. It gave me a sense that whether we admit it or not, we as people really need genuine relationships in life. That we may not be aware of it, but deep down all we need is just someone who can connect with us and understand us. (Wow, deep. haha!) Oh, and I also liked the fact that there wasn't anything romantic between the two in the story. They didn't ended up together but it wasn't much of a big deal.
To sum it up, I'll give it a 4.5/5.
