To every decent guy,
(It feels somewhat ironic how it's supposed to be International Women's Day and yet I wrote this, still I would encourage everyone to leave comments, if you would like. Thank you.)
I am going to be blunt by asking for your help. If you happen to see or hear a woman get cat-called, whether or not she is with you, please help her out by telling the cat-callers to stop. If possible talk to them that it DOES NOT, IN ANY WAY, make a girl feel good about her self nor boost her morale.
A few moments before I thought of making this letter I got cat-called in 28°C, broad, sunny daylight. I can tell you that it is the most irritating and scariest feeling a woman can get while walking out in the streets.
I decided to write this not just for myself but also for other women out there who had the same experience. We can go all day ranting out on social media sites, or trying to let it pass because maybe it was "just something that we wore" that day (which is utter crap because a lot of women get cat-called even when wearing decent outfits), but the thing is, it HAS TO STOP. I know, we can call them out ourselves but that could endanger us more. Not every woman is brave enough to voice that out.
We are all human beings here, regardless of gender, so women are not mere objects to gawk upon and treat without respect. Most women might just ignore this harassment but I can't, and I won't so I wrote this.
I admire you for taking time in reading this, and I do hope you would help out. You have my utmost respect and gratitude.
xx
i will :)
