Hair talk: It starts with...
... one thing, I don't know why it doesn't even matter how hard you try *sings ala Linkin Park* hahaha!
Seriously, this topic has been in my "I should write about this" list for a long while, but I always forget to do it.
Today I am going to tell you all about my hair and my journey on having bright colored hair. Woo!
As most of my friends know, I love to dye my own hair. It came from my love for animes and their bright-colored hair. I used to want to cosplay during my younger years too because of it.
It started way back during my college days. I had a summer class where in we had to dress up as anything we want. Anything from a particular era or year, season, or even portray a character from a movie or book. I was soooo stoked because that was the first opportunity I had to try cosplaying! I went as the Akatsuki named Konan from Naruto. She had blue hair so I had to color my then black hair, of course. I didn't had the time to color my hair blue permanently, so I used a spray-on washable hair color. (The brand name was WISH, if you might want to know. They're usually available at Watsons.) The activity was fun, and using the washable hair color ignited my passion for hair coloring. I started to research more about hair colors and dyes after that.
Even though having colored hair was discouraged in college, I was too much of a rebel to comply. I came across bleaching, which was a method to lighten your hair color to blonde. I was an avid do-it-yourselfer so I bleached at home, with only a mirror as help and internet as guide. I was a bit reckless before though, because I remember a time bleaching parts of my hair and leaving it over night. (talk about major damage, yikes!) Yes, I bleached parts of my hair for highlights even though I was a student council. haha
I even did an ombre!
And played with hair chalk, of course.
By the time I finished my courses, I had blonde streaks on the right side of my hair which I was proud to show off. Then another dilemma had arrived: I now need to look for a job, and looking for a job means looking decent. Most companies have strict rules about how to look so it meant I had to dye my hair black again. *sobs* I reluctantly colored my blonde streaks back to normal and went about applying for a job. After several attempts I got a job offer from a local IT company that I was favoring since college. Long story short, may trabaho na ako!
Of course, being a new employee, I wanted to not be seen as devious, so I resisted to bleach my hair once again. Having a friend in HR though, I asked if they were against unnatural hair color. I was glad when I found out that there were employees who happen to have colored hair. That made me bleach streaks again and from that point on, I vowed to myself to go full blonde by the next year.
By January 2015, I was full on blonde and loving it. I went to a salon and had my hair bleached because I knew I couldn't do it by myself with nice results. haha
Kitang-kita naman siguro sa ngiti ko jan how happy I was to finally able to achieve my hair goal, right? hahaha I was really glad to have went full blonde because now I can begin coloring my hair with bright colors. Awwyisss! So there, this is part 1 of my hair adventures. If you have questions or comments about anything, don't be afraid to leave one here! Do watch out for the next post where I'll be talking about my unnatural hair colors naman. :)
xx
