Quotes.
Things have been quite light on the office side of my life lately so I have spare time to browse some sites and I've stumbled some pretty neat things. Aside from the usual EliteDaily and HelloGiggles reads, I happen to chance at one site that had me. I am incredibly sorry though, because I have forgotten to collect the site (silly me) and even the person responsible for this gem of a quote. plus I was on incognito so the history is of no use."To confess your fallibility and then do nothing about it is not humble; it is boasting of your modesty."
This struck me as a checker for me whenever I say that I am not capable of doing something or I state my weaknesses. True humility is when you know that you are weak, but you strive to overcome that weakness. It's a reminder for me to do the best I could in every challenge I may face. I like it. :)
"Do not flinch from experiences that might destroy your beliefs. The thought you cannot think controls you more than thoughts you speak aloud. Submit yourself to ordeals and test yourself in fire. Relinquish the emotion which rests upon a mistaken belief, and seek to feel fully that emotion which fits the facts. If the iron approaches your face, and you believe it is hot, and it is cool, the Way opposes your fear. If the iron approaches your face, and you believe it is cool, and it is hot, the Way opposes your calm. Evaluate your beliefs first and then arrive at your emotions. Let yourself say: “If the iron is hot, I desire to believe it is hot, and if it is cool, I desire to believe it is cool.”
This one is really interesting and I totally loved it. I am really fascinated about how our mind works and all its potential so this kindov got me curious enough to try and validate. the last two sentences also gives much inspiration to me, sinceI used tois still on the process of training my emotions. It tells me that I can prepare for whatever it is to come; may it be good or bad; by desiring to believe that it is what it is. It's as if you are expecting something, dont look at only one side but both the good and the bad (or in my case even the worst) so you will be prepared and won't get knocked down or float up too much. I hope that made sense. haha
